What is Femoston-Conti used for?
Femoston-Conti is used to treat a wide range of menopausal symptoms, including:
- Hot flushes;
- Night sweats;
- Dryness of mucous membranes (eyes, vagina and/or mouth);
- Irritability, mood swings;
- Insomnia;
- Depression;
- Loss of libido (sex drive);
- Osteoporosis (decrease in bone mass and density).
The estradiol in Femoston-Conti relieves menopausal symptoms. Dydrogesterone is added to protect the uterus from side effects such as endometrial cancer. Each Femoston-Conti tablet contains a low dose of both hormones. This type of HRT does not produce a monthly withdrawal bleed, and so is more suitable for women whose periods have already stopped or women who have not had a period for at least 12 months.
How to use Femoston-Conti
Femoston-Conti tablets should be swallowed whole with some water without chewing. They can be taken with or without food. Femoston-Conti is available in blister packs containing 28 tablets. The tablets should be taken back-to-back without a tablet-free interval. Femoston-Conti tablets do not cause a monthly withdrawal bleed, but you may experience spotting or breakthrough bleeding during the first few months of treatment.
