This contraceptive pill prevents the creation of a pregnancy. The hormones in Elevin make sure there is no ovulation. Moreover, the composition of the mucous membrane in the uterus and cervix changes. This makes it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus and renders implantation of the fertilized egg impossible. Doctors sometimes prescribe Elevin to treat menstrual symptoms (severe abdominal pain and/or bleeding, irregular periods).
